Closing the women’s health gap: A $1 trillion opportunity to improve lives and economies
When--like men--women are viewed as economic drivers, data show our health care gap has a profound effect on everyone.
McKinsey Health institute takes an in-depth look at the economic and wellbeing burden of the huge health gap for women. Terrific data if you’ve looking at making a difference on women’s health within corporate structures.
McKinsey’s conclusion: “Investments addressing the women’s health gap could add years to life and life to years…Addressing the 25 percent more time that women spend in “poor health” relative to men not only would improve the health and lives of millions of women but also could boost the global economy by at least $1 trillion annually by 2040.”
The graphs are terrific - including the one noting that more than half of the women’s health gap occurs during their working years—or about 80% of the GDP impact.
Great info from McKinsey!
