Three quick sanity-saving hacks for women
Laurie Marbas, MD, MBA, is a double board-certified family and lifestyle medicine physician, dedicated to helping us rewire our habits, restore our health, and reclaim our vitality.
Dr. Marbas writes on her Substack, The Habit Healers, and she doesn’t just write for women—but I find what she writes sings pretty well for us. Women Unbroken previously featured her excellent post on 10 powerful habits of people who age well, and you liked it…so here are three more of her recent posts. I don’t know about you, but I can use all the sanity saving I can find right now.
“We live in a world built to overstimulate and deplete us; here’s how to step out of the cycle,” Dr. Marbas says. Her great tips include honoring our capacity, lowering the volume, creating friction against overstimulation, nourishing our nervous systems, and reclaiming our rhythm. (I found myself taking a deep releasing breath just reading that.) Click here for more.
I’m a doctor. These are the five habits I refuse to skip after 50.
Those habits of hers include never skipping breakfast, getting outside within 30 minutes of waking, pausing before the world gets loud, moving her body with intention—love that one!—and powering down before bed. (If I don’t do the latter, I’ll won’t sleep before midnight and will sleep too lightly all night.) Click here for more.
And last, a feel-good, reassuring story; don’t miss it: The earth shook and the elephants knew what to do
I love this story about, as Dr. Marbas says, “what a herd of elephants can teach us about how to stay grounded when life quakes.” You may have read about it, or seen the video, but Dr. Marbas tells the story better than the traditional media did. Click for more.
Take a deep breath, and enjoy a bit of respite from with Dr. Marbas.

Thanks for the introduction to a new Substack!
